Patent Prosecution Attorney

A large AmLaw 100 firm is interested in hiring a patent agent or patent attorney who has experience in preparation and prosecution in Seattle, WA. This is a permanent opportunity; Candidates will be expected to provide a copy of their law school transcripts, as well as a writing sample (preferably related to patent matters).

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and prosecution of patent application with regard to software and electrical arts
  • Provide support on a wide variety of intellectual property issues
  • Develop a broad intellectual property practice

Requirements:  

  • 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
  • Some experience with general intellectual property matters
  • Experience with cloud computing, cyber security, and cryptography are highly preferred 
  • Must have a CS or BSEE degree, or equivalent industry or law firm experience
  • Admitted to practice before the USPTO and/or actively barred within the United States

Prerequisites:

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to translate complex business and legal concepts into clear and compelling text.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, research and interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • An ability to handle time-sensitive requests and to generate quality work product in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work independently but also within a team
  • Independence and integrity; able to meet deadlines, work efficiently, and manage oneself in a telecommuting/remote environment.
  • A confident, professional manner that comes across effectively with the Firm’s lawyers and staff.
  • Strong academic credentials are essential.
