Legal Marketing/Advertising Compliance Specialist

A large, global beauty company seeks experienced paralegal with experience in reviewing marketing and advertising materials to ensure compliance with the regulations of the industry, to support a busy in-house team. This is a full-time, temporary opportunity. 

This position will provide commercial and regulatory support on the company’s marketed products, as well as support on issues relating to the company’s product development programs and pipelines in the U.S. Industry knowledge is a must. This role requires a strong understanding of marketing and advertising limitations and regulations relating to cosmetics, health, fashion and beauty products.


  • 3+ years of regulatory, compliance, and administrative legal experience at firm or company
  • Experience working with highly regulated products, managing clinical trial databases, and checking advertising and marketing claims against those databases.
  • Must have experience reviewing claims
  • General contracts experience is a plus
  • Health, beauty, fashion industry experience
  • JD or Paralegal certification preferred
  • Interested in developing long-term role within the client


  • Ability to manage a diverse array of legal business matters pertaining to the organization
  • Ability to analyze and advise the business on appropriate legal action to be taken
  • Demonstrate flexibility to perform other duties as assigned
  • A high degree of responsiveness and communication within this high-touch organization
  • Ability to execute and manage internal clients with polish within a large complex organization

Essential functions/role:

  • Assist with the review of advertising and promotional materials, training materials, press releases and similar pieces
  • Partner with the compliance team and in the drafting and development of company-wide compliance programs 
  • Provide legal support to commercial business with respect to Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and related regulations, fair market valuations, and fraud and abuse laws, in connection with promotional activities, product labeling, marketing strategies, sales training and compensation, and speaker bureaus
  • Review advertising claims against R&D developments, clinical studies
  • Maintain clinical studies databases
  • Review and manage commercial contracts, third party vendor agreements, service agreements, consulting agreements and other corporate agreements related to commercial and compliance matters
