Matrimonial Paralegal

A small firm in lower Westchester County is looking to hire a matrimonial paralegal who has focused his or her career on family law. Candidates should be able to commute to this location on a daily basis.

This is a permanent role. Please respond with preferred salaries.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Prepare legal documents and affidavits, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, legal correspondence, and real estate closing statements.
  • Organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing system.
  • Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of matters.
  • Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, and documents.
  • Investigate and evaluate information related to legal matters such as facts or law, and search pertinent sources, such as public or personal records.
  • Direct and coordinate law office activity including legal correspondence, execution of contracts, pleadings, documents, and management of calendars/deadlines (Coordinate legal schedules or activities)
  • Processing Information — Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
  • Documenting/Recording Information — Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of solid matrimonial and family law experience
  • Exposure to domestic relations is a plus
  • Knowledge of Family Court rules and procedures, and familiarity with family law litigation
  • Able to interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and clients
  • Able to provide a full range of administrative support to all attorneys as needed
  • Familiarity with research software such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
